they have been tending to our joy for over 30 years 🌹

Mauricio and Carmen Vivas, owners of Tony Rossi & Sons Florist, have helped Fruitvale mark love, grief, celebration, and everything in between.

their hands have shaped arrangements for our birthdays, our altars, our weddings, our goodbyes.

and now, like too many immigrant-owned businesses, they are being pushed to relocate under economic pressure.

we refuse to let that happen quietly.

Vive Fruitvale is about protecting what already sustains us.

In our unending pursuit of cherishing the sanctity of life beyond the calendar rules of the federal government, we continue rising towards Black futurities into March HOPE Circles. Whether born on the shores of Pasadena, California or the buzzing streets of Atlanta, Georgia, Afrofurturists’ wisdom will continue circling us towards the horizon of Black lifeways beyond space and time, uncovering more gems in Black science, arts, and revolutionary survival.

💜🪐💫💜

Join the HOPE Circle Community for our first Black Futures Circle TOMORROW from 6:30-8 PM where we will learn from the musical genres of psychedelic funk & neo-soul ✨🎶

For 29 years, this shop has been a true community gem, creating premade and custom bouquets, offering delivery, and showing up for our celebrations, milestones, and everyday love.

After nearly three decades in this location, this will be their last Valentine’s Day on Fruitvale Ave. While we are sad to see this chapter close, we are grateful for all they have poured into our neighborhood and excited for what is next for our friends.

Let’s show up for our own.
Let’s make this Valentine’s Day feel like community.

Stop by the shop. Place an order. Spread the word.

As state violence continues threatening death upon our neighbors, this season we reground in the sanctity of life. Still, we will rise, by (re) memorying the golden histories and futurities of Black radical visionaries—from right here in the (once known) Harlem of the West to the Coastal shores of East Africa. ✊🏾🧶

Honoring Maya Angelou as our circle theme namesake, join us this Black History Month every Wednesday from 6:30-8PM. Together we will journey towards the horizon of Black lifeways throughout space and time, uncovering the (often overlooked) gems in Black arts,
love, labor, & revolution. ✊🏾💎

🌟HOPE MEMBERSHIP HIGHLIGHT🌟

This past MLK day, our HOPE members held a letter-writing power hour to honor the birthday of our incarcerated comrade, Saadiq. As HOPE member Ms. Anita’s son, Saadiq was uplifted with words of encouragement, support, and love not only for his sacred day—but long awaited return home. 💌

Whether confined within the walls of prison or detention centers, HOPE is in fierce solidarity with all incarcerated people. ⛓️‍💥

On this National Shutdown Day where we rise with our comrades in Minnesota, we remember that all of our struggles are intertwined. 🫱🏾‍🫲🏽

If you’re ready to channel your rage/grief/thirst for change into action, join our HOPE membership by taping into our next general member meeting this Monday, February 1st from 6-7:30 PM @ 1419 34th Avenue. DM us or email Asa@restoreoakland@org to get RSVP details💥
