Calling all ghouls, goblins, ghosts, and all beings in between!

Join us at the East Bay Creative Lab (558 Bellevue Ave) tomorrow, Saturday, October 17, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM for our Costume Designer’s Sewing Clinic.

Open to makers ages 10 and up, this hands-on workshop provides the sewing machines, tools, and expert guidance you need to turn your sketches, thrifted outfits, and big ideas into wearable Halloween art.

Basic sewing experience is recommended, so bring your materials and let’s craft a one-of-a-kind costume together! 🧵✨

Fall events are officially here at the East Bay Creative Lab! 🎨✨

Whether you’re looking to stitch up a custom costume, sketch Lake Merritt’s local birds, build an ofrenda to honor loved ones, or dive into zine-making, we have a fantastic lineup of workshops coming up in October and November.

Here is what is happening at the lab:

🧵 Oct 17 | Costume Workshop: Craft & Sew

10:00 AM – 2:00 PM | Ages 10–99

Bring your costume ideas to life with hands-on sewing and guidance.

🦅 Oct 24 | Create Your Own Field Guide w/ John Muir Laws

9:00 AM – 1:00 PM | Ages 18+

A chill morning of nature journaling and sketching birds by the lake.

🌼 Oct 31 | Altars of Remembrance: Mini Ofrenda Workshop

1:00 PM – 4:00 PM | Ages 12+ (Family Friendly)

Craft a personalized mini ofrenda in honor of Día de los Mu***os.

What an incredible night on the shores of Lake Merritt. From the amazing turnout and the stunning contemporary East Bay art showcase to our community raffle, the energy was everything we hoped for.

Because of your attendance, support, and generosity, we can continue keeping our hands-on woodshops, digital labs, and art studios thriving for local youth. You are directly helping the next generation transition from passive consumers to active creators.

✨🎟️Win big while supporting Oakland youth! In addition to incredible art, local bites, and drinks at Wild Alchemy this Saturday, September 26, we’re hosting an awesome raffle featuring donations from some of our favorite local spots.

From Oakland Zoo family passes and Berkeley Rep vouchers to gift cards, local w**e, spa packages, and sports tickets, we have amazing prizes up for grabs! Every ticket purchased goes directly toward funding our youth studios and keeping our hands-on programs thriving.
