Roots Community Health Healing our community from within through integrated health care, support services and empowerment. Roots Community Health is a nonprofit based in East Oakland.

We take an empowerment approach to all of our services and programs. We are committed to supporting each person's "whole health"--addressing not only physical and mental health, but also access to opportunity and freedom from violence. Our Mission

To provide the highest quality comprehensive health care and mental health services to Oakland residents with the goal of eliminating health disparit

ies in our community; to identify the roots of suffering and illness and address them through community-responsive, culturally appropriate service delivery; to focus on providing excellent access to comprehensive care in a safe and dignified environment; to identify and treat not only the symptoms, but also the roots of physical and mental ailments affecting our patients and our community; to establish roots and partnerships within our community to address issues of violence, substance abuse, poor nutrition and limited access to educational and vocational opportunities; and to provide state-of-the-art, top-quality care while honoring the roots of culture, heritage and tradition.

Today we honor the spirit, strength, resilience, and rich culture of Black communities across the nation. Juneteenth celebrates freedom and honors the struggles endured in pursuit of it.
