This month we had our first Film and Art showing. So honoring to be able to visually exhibit the inspiring story of Jen’s incredible journey through pediatric cancer in our series ‘Enduring Smiles’. This journey, while marked by challenges and pain, transformed into a powerful platform for raising awareness about childhood cancer. We’re deeply grateful for the opportunity to not only share Jen’s story but also to honor the resilience and strength of all children and families who face this battle. While we celebrate Jen’s triumph, we remain acutely aware that many children are not able to share their stories. In their memory, we dedicate ourselves to shining a light on this fight, reminding everyone of the bravery and the enduring spirit of these young warriors. Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved two milestone treatments, Casgevy and Lyfgenia, representing the first cell-based gene therapies for the treatment of sickle cell disease (SCD) in patients 12 years and older.
Additionally, one of these therapies, Casgevy, is the first FDA-approved treatment to utilize a type of novel genome editing technology, signaling an innovative advancement in the field of gene therapy.

Why We Share…

As our family navigated the tumultuous waters of our youngest child's battle with stage four Wilms Tumor, a form of pediatric kidney cancer, we faced countless moments of feeling overwhelmed and utterly lost. When your child receives a cancer diagnosis, the experience is nothing short of earth-shattering, leaving you reeling from a maelstrom of disbelief, shock, and paralyzing fear. No amount of preparation or foreknowledge can truly equip you to deal with this heart-wrenching situation. In the early stages of our family's ordeal, we were plagued by a profound sense of helplessness.

Amidst the chaos, we discovered solace in the stories of other families who had faced similar battles. These accounts served as beacons of hope and essential guideposts as we navigated the treacherous journey with our little girl. One family in California, , provided a lifeline that kept me grounded in sanity. Their daughter had a diagnosis strikingly similar to Jenny's, but they were about eight months ahead of us in their fight. The candid sharing of their experiences became an invaluable resource for us during our darkest hours.

While some may view the recounting of such personal stories as oversharing, for many families, these narratives offer crucial points of reference during incredibly challenging times. It is my fervent prayer that, one day, our story will be able to offer the same solace and guidance to another family in need. Keep the faith and hold on tight. Each of us has a unique story to tell, and although our paths may differ, we are bound together by a common thread of hope, faith, and resilience. I am truly humbled and grateful to be a part of this extraordinary community of support.
