A new chapter of Always Reading begins!

Across Hawaiʻi and Northern California, students and families at our 44 partner schools are getting everything they need to make reading together a regular part of their lives:
📚 Hard-copy books to build their home libraries
📱 Tablets and access to 40,000+ books through the Epic for Kids digital library
💙 A dedicated Book Coach to offer guidance, encouragement, and support throughout the school year

Access to books is only part of the story. Lasting reading habits grow through connection, consistency, and encouragement. We're here to support families on that journey every step of the way.

Here's to another exciting year of reading together!

We love when a story comes full circle. During a recent visit to Anne Darling Elementary, a new Always Reading partner school, our Director of Programs, Lori, reconnected with a familiar face: Ms. Vasquez!

Back in 2012, Ms. Vasquez was a kindergarten teacher at Washington Elementary, one of the first schools where we first introduced our Always Reading program. More than a decade later, she's still championing early literacy and helping young readers and families thrive.

As we celebrate 30 years of Always Dream, we're especially grateful for the educators who have been part of our story along the way.

Always Reading is back in schools, which means we’re kicking off another year of reading together.

Last week, members of our team visited Honowai Elementary, one of our newest school partners, to welcome students to the program. We handed out tablets with the Epic for Kids digital library which will give families access to 40,000+ childrenʻs titles. Kristi Yamaguchi even stopped by for a special guest reading!

Honowai Elem. is part of a big milestone for us: this school year, Always Reading is reaching families at 44 school partners across Hawaiʻi and Northern California -- the most in our history. At each school, our Book Coaches will work alongside educators and families to help make reading a consistent and joyful part of life at home.

Weʻre excited for all the stories ahead!
