Bay Area Wilderness Training supports youth workers and teachers with training, gear, transportation, Helping YOU get Youth Outdoors!

Bay Area Wilderness Training’s (BAWT) mission is to create opportunities for youth from the San Francisco Bay Area to experience wilderness first hand. To achieve our mission, we train teachers and youth workers, provide outdoor gear loans, give financial support, and foster community collaboration.

Gear Library mash-up! 🎉

We loved having Robin from the stop by the BAWT office during her Bay Area tour. As a fellow Outdoors Empowered Network member, it was fun to compare gear library setups, swap ideas and best practices, and even test out a few pieces of gear together.

Thanks for stopping by, Robin! It's always great connecting with others who are working to get more people outdoors!

The July Wilderness Leadership Training participants hit the trail and returned with new skills, lasting memories, and plenty of smiles.

From navigating the backcountry to building confidence as outdoor leaders, they took on the challenge and came back ready to lead future adventures.

Huge thanks to our incredible June Gear Corps volunteers!

This past weekend's crew helped give our gear some much-needed TLC after a busy spring season of camping adventures. Volunteers washed and made repairs to several tents & camp stoves, organized our freshly laundered gear, and enjoyed some delicious lunch & great conversations.
