The Measure W Home Together Fund is supporting affordable housing all across Alameda County. In the Tri-Valley, downtown Livermore will soon be home to 128 new housing units reserved for low-income households.

This project, located at the corner of Railroad Avenue and South L Street, will give residents the chance to live near the jobs, services, and public transportation that downtown living provides. This is critical for helping housing-insecure Alameda County residents achieve stability.

Of the 128 affordable units, 23 will be set aside for people experiencing homelessness, and 10 will provide housing to people with disabilities.

"According to estimates from the Census Bureau’s 2023 American Community Survey, roughly 27% of Oakland residents were born in another country, and nearly half lack citizenship status. Out of Alameda County’s approximately 1.7 million residents, an estimated 107,000 do not have permanent legal status. Overall, the U.S. is home to roughly 11 million undocumented immigrants.

If carried out as Trump envisions, mass deportations would impact Oakland and the Bay Area in ways not seen in recent history, separating huge numbers of families, disrupting businesses that rely on immigrant workforces, and inundating local courts and jails.

A campaign of mass deportations would also cost billions of dollars."

During President-elect Donald Trump’s first term, Oakland and California established greater protections for undocumented people. But immigration lawyers and advocates are still concerned.
