20 more puppies just arrived at Oakland Animal Services the last few days, and we’re bursting at the seams! 🐶❤️ These adorable pups need foster homes *ASAP* to stay safe and healthy.

We provide all the supplies and support you need—it’s the perfect time to jump in and help out! Whether you’ve fostered before or it’s your first time, these puppies are counting on YOU for a cozy place to grow. 🏡✨

Martial arts and film icon Bruce Lee will be honored by the city where he began his career next week. On Monday, the City of will honor the late Lee with a commemorative street renaming ceremony at the intersection of Broadway and Garnet Street.

The location is close to where Lee once ran a martial arts school he co-founded with Jimmy Yung Lee (no relation). At the school, Lee began pioneering his distinct, signature style of martials arts, Jeet Kune Do — which means “way of the intercepting fist.”

Notable students at Lee’s Oakland studio included NBA icon Kareem Abdul Jabbar and future Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums.

A resolution to rename the intersection after Lee was introduced by Oakland City Councilmember .kaplan.for.oakland in June and was unanimously passed.

The ceremony will take place Monday September 23rd at 10:15 AM, at the corner of Broadway and Garnet street.

The Children’s Fairyland Book Festival Returns 📚 👧🏾🧒🏻

Join us for a day where the Bay Area’s most talented kid-lit authors, illustrators, publishers, sellers, and educators come together to celebrate the magic of BOOKS!

Visitors will enjoy read-alouds by authors and see live art demonstrations, shop for books and get them autographed in person, celebrate the incredible 8-12 year olds from the Youth Writers’ Workshop, and much more!

Devastating news, Jun Anabo, co-owner of the beloved restaurant Lucky Three Seven was shot & killed last night. Deepest condolences to his family & loved ones. Please keep them in prayer 😞🙏🏾

Lucky Three Seven will be taking some time off until further notice. We apologize for the inconvenience. We have entered a time of uncertainty. And although Jun would want us to keep it moving and keep it pushing… we find ourselves lost without him. Jun Anabo, co owner of Lucky Three Seven has died and we are praying, crying, and hoping for any light.
