Dr. Gabriella Soto, author of the book Border Afterlives: Migrant Deaths, Forensic Investigations, and the Politics of Haunting, will discuss how systemic border enforcement policies put human lives at risk and argue why certain preventable migrant deaths should be recognized as structural homicides.

Are you a college student or recent grad interested in immigrant rights, storytelling, social media, or nonprofit work?

Interns will learn about current immigration policy and news, help write stories, create social media content, and get an introduction to nonprofit communications and design.

In the past week, we’ve heard the horrific news of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo and Johan Sebastian Guerrero, two newcomer Americans killed by ICE on their way to work.

We cannot allow this state violence to be normalized. And we cannot separate the violence terrorizing our immigrant neighbors from the broader, coordinated assault on our democracy.

From ICE detention camps to state legislatures pushing Jim Crow-era voter suppression, the goal is to silence Black, Brown, and immigrant communities so MAGA can line their pockets at working people’s expense.
