🌟 Youth Freedom Fund is Back! 🌟

Your GSA is building safer, more supportive schools for Trans, Q***r and Two-Spirit youth—and we want to help you keep the momentum going! 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

The Youth Freedom Fund gives registered GSA clubs the resources they need to thrive. Whether you’re:
✨ Planning a pride prom
✨ Hosting a Lavender Graduation 🎓
✨ Starting a book club 📚
✨ Or fueling your next campaign...

This fund is here for YOU. Since launching in 2023, we’ve supported nearly 60 GSAs in 25 states—and your club could be next!

📅 Applications for Fall 2025 open October 1 and close October 31.
👉 Eligible GSAs must be active, registered for the 2025–2026 school year, and submit proposals led by youth (with advisor approval).

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved alumni, Carmen Gonzalez, a visionary leader, organizer, and friend to so many in the GSA Network community.

Carmen’s commitment to building a world where Trans, Q***r, and Two-Spirit youth could live and lead with pride was unwavering. As a youth leader in GSA Network, Carmen played a key role in organizing campaigns, uplifting marginalized voices, and creating safe, affirming spaces for countless young people across California.

Their leadership was not just about strategy or mobilization; it was rooted in love, compassion, and an unshakable belief in the power of youth to transform our communities. Carmen inspired peers, mentored younger leaders, and left a legacy of courage that will continue to ripple through the movement.

We will remember Carmen for their brilliance, their laughter, and the way they made everyone feel seen and valued. Their light will continue to guide us as we carry forward the work they so passionately championed.

Rest in power, Carmen. You will always be part of the heart of GSA Network. 🦋

🎉 AB 908 Advances! 🎉

AB 908, the LGBTQ+ Inclusion and Fair Treatment in Schools (LIFT) Act), passed the Senate Education Committee and is now on its way to the Senate Appropriations Committee! 🏳️‍🌈📚

This is a huge step toward ensuring that LGBTQ+ students are represented in curriculum and protected by policy across California schools. 💪🏽

🌟 Special thanks to Assemblymember José Luis Solache, Jr. for authoring this critical bill and to Equality California for co-sponsoring and standing strong with us in this fight for educational justice.

We’re not done yet. Let’s keep the momentum going!

🎤🏛️ This month, our staff went to Sacramento to testify as a Primary Witness for AB 908, the LGBTQ+ Inclusion and Fair Treatment in Schools (LIFT) Act, at the Senate Education Committee.

🏳️‍🌈 AB 908 is urgent and necessary.
It creates the accountability we need by directing the California Department of Education to monitor school district compliance with existing laws, ensuring LGBTQ+ students are represented in curriculum and protected by policy.

This bill is about more than policy.
✨ It’s about belonging.
💖 It’s about survival.
🏳️‍⚧️ Its about doing right by the hundreds of thousands of LGBTQ+ youth in our schools

🌈✨ THAT’S A WRAP! ✨🌈

Activist Camp 2025: Power in our hands, justice for our future, was a powerful experience.

Our first in-person Activist Camp since the pandemic is officially complete. And what a return it was! From June 22 to 25, 2025, 30 Trans, Q***r, Two-Spirit, and allied youth from across California gathered in Santa Cruz County for a powerful 4-day leadership experience. 💥

Throughout camp, youth built community, explored movement history, and participated in workshops on gender justice, racial justice, power and liberation, and how to take action in their schools and beyond. 📚✊️

We also made space for healing and joy. From reconnection to movement songs and chants, power poses, discussion circles, warm and fuzzy affirmations, and a legendary talent show (and yes, even the Santa Cruz Boardwalk!). 🎤🎉🎢

Thank you, campers! You created a space rooted in learning, restoration, and TQ2S+ youth power. We’re so proud and grateful to have shared this moment with you. ✨
