On Monday, we joined the Sacramento Mother's March in solidarity with mothers and families impacted by the family policing system across the nation. We advocated for transformative change and REAL solutions to support our families, rather than family policing policies that break apart our community.

One year after the unlawful strip search in SF County Jail women's pod, people inside the jail are still fighting for accountability! Join us next Friday, May 22 in a vigil for survivors. Hear from people in the jail, and bring pictures, messages, and art items for an altar as we fight for justice.

This May Day, we're gearing up for Quest for Democracy to advocate for our siblings who are still enslaved in America. California, along with over a dozen other states, still allows involuntary servitude in prisons. This inhumane practice and policy of enslavement perpetuates injustice everywhere: from our tax dollars that fund the prison-industrial complex to our day-to-day interactions with police, any labor movement lacking the voices of incarcerated and system-impacted individuals will fall short and leave those who most need solidarity behind.

Join us on March 21 at the Emeryville Film Festival for a showing of short films curated by AOUON's own Tanisha Cannon and Rahsaan Thomas (San Quentin Film Festival). Resilience: Inside & Out features films made by system-impacted people exploring life within—and beyond—criminal and social systems. These works center lived experience, accountability, and transformation, offering deeply human perspectives on incarceration, reentry, and survival.

The San Francisco Sheriff's Office website says that “every human being deserves respect,” yet women in San Francisco County Jail are reporting mass strip searches, sexual misconduct, and filthy, inhumane conditions.
