Founded in 1907, the Building Owners and Managers Association International is a dynamic federation of 99 local associations whose members own or manage over 9 billion square feet of downtown and suburban commercial properties and facilities in North America and around the world. BOMA International actively and responsibly represents and promotes the interests of the commercial real estate industry through effective leadership and advocacy, through the collection, analysis and dissemination of information, and through professional development. 🌈 Pride Month Community Spotlight 🌈

Programs like Camp Indigo are making a meaningful impact by creating safe, affirming, and empowering spaces for trans, nonbinary, and gender-diverse youth.

Summer camps are about more than activities and recreation. They are opportunities for connection, confidence-building, mentorship, and community. Camp Indigo provides an environment where young people can show up as their authentic selves, build friendships, and create lasting memories surrounded by support and inclusion.

As we continue celebrating Pride Month, it's important to recognize the organizations, programs, and community leaders working to create spaces where everyone feels seen, valued, and supported. 🌟 Strategic Shaping Retreat Recap 🌟

Last week, the BOMA Oakland/East Bay Board of Directors came together for our Strategic Shaping Retreat, an important opportunity to reflect, collaborate, and plan for the future of our association and the members we serve.

Through thoughtful discussions, collaborative exercises, and forward-looking conversations, board members explored key priorities, emerging opportunities, and long-term strategies that will help guide BOMA OEB's continued growth and impact in the years ahead.

The retreat provided valuable time to strengthen connections, align around shared goals, and identify ways to continue delivering meaningful programs, resources, advocacy, and networking opportunities for our members and the East Bay commercial real estate community.

🌈 Pride Month Community Spotlight 🌈

This Pride Month, we're proud to recognize individuals and organizations whose leadership and advocacy have helped strengthen and support the LGBTQ+ community throughout the East Bay.

Joe Hawkins is a longtime LGBTQ+ advocate and one of the driving forces behind Oakland Pride, helping shape it into one of the region's most impactful annual celebrations. He also co-founded the Oakland LGBTQ+ Community Center, expanding access to resources, wellness programs, and inclusive spaces for local residents.

His advocacy spans decades, from HIV/AIDS activism to developing programs that support underserved communities. Through his leadership, Joe has helped create opportunities for connection, visibility, and belonging for countless individuals across Oakland and beyond.

The Oakland LGBTQ+ Community Center continues that mission today by providing vital services, programming, and safe spaces focused on wellness, empowerment, and community. From youth programs and health resources to year-round events and Pride initiatives, the Center plays an important role in supporting LGBTQ+ residents throughout the East Bay.

This Pride Month, we celebrate the leaders, advocates, and organizations working to build a more inclusive and connected community for all. 💙
