Sometimes community cats write their own timeline.
Meg had been helping Michelle get the cats in a local colony fixed, and the ninth cat proved to be the hardest one of all. After finally being trapped and neutered, he stayed overnight at HAPI HQ to recover before returning home. But during a transfer into a larger recovery crate, he escaped.
For more than a week, he hid completely. No sightings. No interest in food left inside traps. We tried every bait we could think of, checked constantly, and slowly started worrying he may have disappeared for good.
Then, after Meg had been away for a little while, this cat finally walked into the trap for food. Safe at last. Last night he was returned to his colony a few blocks away and released right where he belonged.
And the best part? His cat friends came running up to greet him.
Huge appreciation to Michelle and Meg for all the effort it took to get this colony fixed and supported.
