Join architectural color consultant Kate Pocrass (Color Theory) for a roundtable discussion on navigating color specification in modern practice. Together, we will examine how strategic color placement manipulates scale, ceiling height, sightlines, and room proportions in residential and commercial spaces. Moving past generic "safe neutrals," we’ll challenge outdated sensory design rules and look at how to work directly with clients to discover what their minds and bodies need for comfort in their spaces.

Class is in session at this project! Welcome to Evergreen Valley College Sequoia Upgrades and Nursing Addition by Perkins Eastman Architects.

"The design intent integrates the new facility seamlessly into the existing campus while prioritizing accessibility, pedestrian flow, and future campus developments. Sustainability is a key focus, with the project targeting LEED Silver certification through energy-efficient systems, biophilic design, and passive temperature control strategies.

The project features high-fidelity clinical simulation environments, collaborative classrooms, and strategically designed daylighting elements to enhance learning and well-being. Interior and exterior synergy is achieved through open lobby spaces, extensive glazing, and outdoor study and meditation gardens."

Using Bakar Labs for Energy & Materials (BL-EM) as a case study, this panel will bring together perspectives from the owner, design team, builder, and specialty engineers to explore the opportunities, challenges, and lessons learned while pursuing ambitious sustainability and resilience goals.

Welcome to today's : THE RISE by Stackhouse De la Peña Trachtenberg Architects!

"The project, comprising 48 studio apartments, is situated one block from the University of California, Berkeley campus on a compact 3,700-square-foot lot in downtown Berkeley. At an astonishing 570 units per acre, the project is a study in efficient urban development. The studio units range from 350 sq. ft. to 427 sq. ft., and all furnishings are custom-designed to maximize comfort in limited space."
