Take a dip at today's ! Welcome to Piedmont Community Aquatic Center by ELS Architecture and Urban Design (which is now open to the public!).

"For decades, the small East Bay city of Piedmont had dreamed of a new aquatics facility to replace a 1960s pool on a highly constrained site within the civic core. This extensively programmed complex is the culmination of that dream. The project was catalyzed in part by the 2020 closure of the existing pool, which had begun to leak and show cracks.

Amid robust participation from Piedmont’s highly engaged 11,000-person community, public workshops envisioned a multifunctional, wellness oriented hub that, in its materiality, usage, and circulation patterns, complements the adjacent high school, tennis courts, recreation facility, and performing-arts venue, forming what is effectively a major upgrade to the city’s entire civic center."

Join us for a tour of the newly opened Mosswood Park's new Community Center with LMS Architects! The park & center is inclusive of a diverse community of users, accessible, flexible in use, & thoughtfully designed. The new building integrates thoughtfully within the park context; enhancing visibility, security & connectivity with adjacent uses, while preserving and protecting the verdant, pastoral setting & popular recreation amenities that the park provides. The new building project creates a “state-of-the art” facility that will foster community, wellness, recreation & learning. The building will meet programming, life safety & accessibility requirements within an efficient footprint, to minimize negative impact to the park experience and mature canopy trees.

Join us for an evening discussion that dives deeper into ELD and includes a live demo!

This course will cover the lessons learned from over 20 case studies regarding Electronic Leak Detection (ELD) quality control testing as part of new construction, forensic testing in existing buildings with active leaks, and continuous moisture monitoring for conventional roofing. Participants will learn about the principles outlined in the ASTM Standard Guide D7877 and ASTM Standard Practice D8231 and will be able to identify common causes for moisture intrusion.

Happy and welcome to MLK Shelter by Baran Studio Architecture!

"The MLK Shelter is a permanent supportive housing community in downtown Oakland, created to address the urgent crisis of homelessness. On a long-neglected triangular parking lot, the project delivers 88 prefabricated studio units, each with a private kitchen and bath, supported by a rooftop terrace, lounge, and co-working spaces. The result is a dignified living environment that balances privacy with community.

Prefabricated volumetric wood modules made construction faster, more cost-effective, and less wasteful, proving that efficient delivery can align with high design standards. Eliminating on-site parking and locating the project in a transit-rich, walkable neighborhood reinforces sustainable urban living and connects residents to services and opportunity."
