"A symphony of raw materials—concrete, wood, metal, and glass—Terrace House is a net zero energy home designed to respond to every season. It feels crisp and light in the summer and warm and inviting in the winter. The home uses passive heating and cooling to manage the full array of regional weather conditions. On warm days, it can be opened on every floor, funneling cool air from the lower levels (chilled by thermal mass and subterranean conditions) to the top. In winter, the sun’s rays reach deep into the house, warming every room. The heat is absorbed by the concrete walls and floors, then released at night to keep the home cozy."

The AIASF Headquarters Lecture Hall is a 106-seat medium-sized meeting room. Charles Salter, an acoustical engineer of 50 years and President of Salter, Inc., will be using AIASF's beautiful lecture hall as an acoustic case study - detailing his firm’s successful design and implementation of the acoustical and audiovisual components, creating an acoustically-pleasant meeting room regardless of an electronic amplification system and without sacrificing aesthetic objectives.

Today's is here to welcome you! Step inside Yosemite Valley Welcome Center by Siegel & Strain Architects.

"Set within the Yosemite Valley Historic District, the project rehabilitates a former dining room in the glassy south end of a much larger mid-century steel and heavy timber building. The overarching design approach was to gently reveal the intrinsic elegance of the original structure while aligning the exterior with the Park’s design guidelines. Used most recently as a retail store, the space has been carefully restored in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation – highlighting the original steel structure, rustic wall paneling, and expansive windows to reconnect visitors with the immediate landscape and panoramic views of Glacier Point beyond. Upgraded insulation, new window glazing, and a new HVAC system provide both staff and visitors respite from heat in the summer, smoke from wildfires, and winter conditions."

"Programming concepts focused on the development of comfort, skill, and mastery, converting absolute beginners into confident, even competitive swimmers. The facility’s aquatic components comprise a splash pad, double-flume slide, and pools for fun-water recreation, training, and competition. Recreation areas include a lazy river and waterjets (mimicking waves), gently introducing new swimmers to the ocean. Safety and comfort characterize the design in other ways: its deep pool is farthest from the front door; locker rooms separate families with children from people without."
