Classified Employee Spotlight: Meet Sylvia Barner, Head Custodian at Frick United Academy of Language.

Sylvia Barner has been with the District for 25 years, the last 14 of which have been at Frick. She is retiring later this year.

“As head custodian, I am in charge of the entire facility. Every room, support the staff, support the kids. I’m the go-to girl. I am ex-military (U.S. Army) so I am accustomed to doing this work, and dealing with folks, and everything… I like to see clean things. I like to see things working. No one has to complain about why the toilet doesn’t work, or the door’s not working… Order. I love order.”

Big changes to our COVID protocols were announced last night:

* All staff are required to get vaccinated or to get tested weekly.
* Masks must be worn by all staff and students both indoors and outside.

Youth 12 and over can get their Pfizer vaccine and enjoy a show!!!! Adults are welcomed too, but hey, we’re your school, Tigers. Come to get your vaccine before the first day of classes!!!! Join us this Saturday, July 10 from 12-4pm and get vaccinated! In collaboration with our local artists, and will be celebrating 25,000 vaccinated and our health workers! Our very own will be helping to host! By the way:The vaccination pod will be open on Thursday 3pm-7pm (Pfizer and J&J), Friday (Moderna) and Saturday (Moderna and Pfizer) 8am-4pm.
