Good food, amazing views, and an even better cause ❤️ We were excited to partner with Yelp’s Town Royale event in support of UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital while also featuring OCIC’s Taste of Chinatown campaign alongside our longtime partner, . And of course — the dim sum was a huge hit! 🥟✨

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate community, culture, and great food with us.

Our OCIC team had the opportunity to attend the Shanghai Yangpu–Bay Area Business Seminar hosted by the Bay Area Council, where we connected with a range of businesses from Shanghai’s Yangpu District.

It was great to foster meaningful conversations around collaboration between Oakland Chinatown businesses and international partners. We also appreciated the insightful panel discussion with Professor Slav Hermanowicz from on international student exchange and the future of global learning.

Always a big thank you to the for the invitation and for creating space for these important exchanges. 🌏🤝

Behind every recognition is a community that believes in you—and we want to take a moment to recognize one of those champions 💛

A heartfelt thank you to our board member Hal Gin for nominating Tony Trinh for the 40 Under 40. Hal has been Tony’s day-one supporter, consistently showing up with encouragement, guidance, and belief in his leadership long before this moment of recognition.

We also want to extend a sincere thank you to our full board for their ongoing support, leadership, and dedication to OCIC’s mission, to a safer, cleaner, and more vibrant Chinatown.

We are deeply grateful to you all, Hal and the entire board, for standing behind our team and helping make moments like this possible 💫

The Oakland Chinatown Improvement Council was proud to represent Oakland Chinatown at the International Downtown Association Annual Conference in Long Beach this year.

From sharing the story of our historic neighborhood to learning innovative strategies for downtown revitalization, this conference was an opportunity to bring the voice of Oakland Chinatown to a national stage. We connected with city leaders, community organizations, and downtown advocates from across the country to exchange ideas on supporting small businesses, strengthening cultural districts, and building vibrant communities.

We’re excited to bring new insights and inspiration back home as we continue working to support the businesses, culture, and community that make Oakland Chinatown so special. 🏮✨
