OCIC was honored to join the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Lincoln Square Recreation Center Friends of Lincoln Square Park and celebrate the transformation of this beloved community space into something even greater. 🎉

During the ceremony, our Executive Director Tony Trinh reflected on growing up in this neighborhood and the countless memories made at Lincoln Square Park. For generations, this park has brought people together—a place where families gather, friendships are built, and our community grows stronger.

We’re excited to see this next chapter take shape and can’t wait for future generations to create their own memories in this incredible new space. Congratulations to everyone who helped make this vision a reality! 💚

OCIC was honored to be present at Chief James P. Beere’s swearing-in ceremony today at City Hall.

During his time as Interim Chief of Police, Chief Beere has already demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting our immigrant and Chinatown communities.

We are grateful for his continued partnership with our BID partners, Steve and Andrew from Oakland Central , and for his dedication to making Oakland a safer and stronger city for everyone.

Congratulations, Chief Beere! We look forward to continuing to work hand in hand with you and your team to build a better, safer, and more vibrant Oakland through your leadership and guidance. Thank you for your service and commitment to our community!

🤝 That’s a wrap on the Stop the Hate Symposium! 🤝

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an inspiring afternoon of dialogue, learning, and community building. From the incredible cultural performances—including ballet , African drumming , and lion dancing—to the engaging keynote panel and breakout sessions, the energy in the room was truly inspiring.

It was especially heartwarming to see people from so many different backgrounds come together as one community to discuss important issues such as hate prevention, community safety, healing, and cross-cultural understanding. These conversations do not end here—we look forward to continuing this work and building even stronger connections across Oakland.

Together, we are stronger. ❤️
