We’re building A YOUTH PROGRAM that centers the voices, experiences, wisdom, and dreams of those most harmed by the institution of schooling—Black and Brown folks, neurospicy folks, LGBTQ+ folks... the young people themselves.

🏡 HELP US FIND A HOME FOR LIBERATED YOUTH!

We’re looking for a home for our new Liberated Youth Center, and we’re hoping our community can help us find it.

Our goal is to move into a space by August 1 so we can welcome youth before our program begins.

We’re looking for:
• 1,600+ sq ft (or multiple rooms that together could meet our needs)
• Separate rooms/offices
• A kitchen
• Space for classes, workshops, art, gaming, and hanging out
• Oakland preferred (Downtown, Uptown, Lake Merritt area), but we’re also open to Berkeley or San Leandro.

We’re also open to sharing space!
If you have extra classrooms, offices, a church, community center, nonprofit space, commercial building, warehouse, studio, or another underutilized space, we’d love to explore whether we could share it.

Liberated Kids is a grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit creating self-directed, community-centered educational spaces where young people can build friendships, pursue their interests, and thrive.

Our budget is up to $2,000/month, which we know is below market rate. We’re hoping to find a mission-aligned property owner or organization that believes in what we’re building. In some cases, donating or discounting rent to a nonprofit may provide tax benefits (please consult a tax professional).

Young people will have space to:
• Get to know each other
• Feel out the group and the overall vibe
• Choose into activities they’re excited about
• Share their ideas and hopes for the space
• Explore whether this community feels like a good fit for them

We’ll have structured facilitation alongside plenty of open space for connection, curiosity, and co-creation.
We’re looking forward to meeting everyone and building this together.
