If your loved one is detained by ICE, one of the things you may want to know is how to find an immigration lawyer who you can trust. And when you add the stress of knowing your loved one is experiencing harsh detention conditions and is at risk of deportation, this process can be even more difficult.

Unfortunately, there have been cases of some people taking advantage of this situation, so it’s important to know how to protect yourself and your loved one.

This post has some tips for finding and choosing an immigration attorney.

Red flags / things to avoid:
- Their focus is not immigration law
- They promise a certain result
- They pressure you to pay immediately without providing a contract first
- They never speak directly with the person in detention
