Thank you Assemblymember Damon Connolly and Assemblymember Nick Schultz for your leadership on this important issue. This agency needs to be held accountable to the people of California!

State regulators face calls to better protect low-income, Spanish-speaking immigrants from pesticide exposure in agricultural communities.

This story highlights a perfect example of industry taking advantage of people struggling with the cost of living to go back on deals they made in the state. What they don't tell you are 1) they agreed to the requirements in the law they are wanting to curb, 2) the costs to YOU as a ratepayer are going up in terms of water treatment (yes plastics are getting into our water), waste management, and health costs, 3) these companies can innovate, but its cheaper for them not to, 4) the oil industry wants to push plastic packaging to make up for revenue losses due to more efficient cars and EVs. Furthermore, very little of this stuff is recycled. So do you think the legislators who are buying their arguments are doing you a favor?

A new law aims to cut plastic packaging 25% by 2032 — but producers say the real cost could be billions more than the state projected.

Good news for your Thursday.

Good news for your Thursday.

An Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rule putting polluters on the hook to clean up toxic “forever chemicals” was upheld in court on Tuesday despite an industry challenge. The rule in question …

Californians, call your Assemblymember today and tell them to vote for SB 954. Building housing is not a reason to allow industrial sites to pollute the neighborhoods people live in. That's why CWA helped write this op ed.

A pending bill, SB 954, would restore environmental review standards and protect local communities from pollution.

In a world of attacks on the environment, Clean Water Action and our allies across the country are still both defending our laws and making progress. We will keep going too.

States across the country continue advancing bipartisan policies that increase transparency, reduce toxic chemicals and plastic pollution, accelerate safer solutions, and hold polluters accountable. Here’s what the first half of 2026 tells us. More than halfway through 2026, one trend is clear: st...

Thank you Assemblymember Damon Connolly for this important piece. We agree and support SB 954. We urge all Californians to call their state representatives and tell them to vote for this important bill.

If it does not pass this year, homes, schools, waterways and entire communities will be in danger. We’re playing with fire and it’s not getting enough attention.

Today is "Good News Thursday" and Clean Water Action is basking in the success of our event showing the film Plastic Detox and having a vibrant discussion afterwards. We were all so inspired by Dr. Shanna Swan's (in orange) continued work to amplify, through science, the effects of plastic chemicals on humans, while helping people find solutions. Our own Julie Wedge (in black) also provided a ray of hope with real things people can do to reduce their exposures.
If you haven't seen Plastic Detox, look for it on Netflix. It's a must see.
