Math doesn't have to mean worksheets. At Family Math Night, families played, built, and counted together using Matemáticas en Familia, the bilingual early-math program from PBS SoCal. Kids made shapes, patterns and rockets — and every family took home their own Nuestro Libro de Matemáticas en Familia workbook to keep the games going.

Our Spanish session filled up fast, so don't wait on this one. The English session is limited to the first 20 families — it's free, and it's built for the whole family, so bring the little ones and the big kids.

Our very own Karla B., Community and Parent Engagement Coordinator at BANANAS, shared her strategies and tips for enrolling parents in the Brilliant Baby Program at Oakland Promise's Brilliant Baby Kickoff Event.

Each child enrolled in Brilliant Baby receives a 529 College Savings Account seeded with $500. These college savings accounts are held at my529, one of the top college savings companies in the country. This money will grow over time and become a resource to help pay for the child's post-secondary school expenses.
