During our recent visit to a correctional facility, we had the privilege of meeting individuals who are actively preparing for life beyond incarceration. We spent time connecting with those preparing for reentry, discussing opportunities, answering questions, and sharing resources that can help shape their future.

These moments reinforce our mission: breaking down barriers, creating access, and helping people move forward with confidence.

Governor Kathy Hochul has nominated Alexander Dockery to the New York State Commission of Correction. If confirmed, he would become the first formerly incarcerated person to serve on the commission.

The nomination comes after New York expanded the commission and required at least one formerly incarcerated member to serve—bringing lived experience into conversations about accountability, oversight, and public safety.

Governor Kathy Hochul has nominated Alexander Dockery to serve on the New York State Commission of Correction.
