Oakland, CA - Fife is a fake “progressive,” pretending she has some affiliation with the Black Panther Party to give herself “progressive” credentials. As the former Chairman of the Party, I state that her only connection with the Party is her and her bodyguard partner’s friendship with non-Oaklanders and others who were never in the Party.

Fife falsely claims a false history with the Moms 4 Housing Movement, sliding into the Council seat on that claim, hiding the fact that she and her bodyguard partner and other followers were at a TV station in Berkeley for her interview by Democracy Now host Amy Goodman while the real Moms, Misty Cross and Tolani King, held the line at the occupied house on Magnolia Street when the Sheriff’s SWAT cops drove up to that house in a tank (!), opened the door with a killer robot, wielded their automatic rifles toward the only two Moms left there, alone, and brutally arrested them. Since then, Fife has made money from the Moms 4 Housing name, claimed credit for it and shunned and even denounced Cross and King.

Fife undermines affordable housing in her District. First, she has never supported our 100% affordable Black Panther Apartments at 7th and Campbell in West Oakland, refusing even to attend our grand opening in July, though, as our Council representative, she was invited. In October of last year, Fife, in collusion with Mayor Thao and a senior staff member of the City’s Economic and Workforce Development Department, successfully blocked a Council vote on a 300-unit affordable housing development at 1911 Telegraph (District 3) because my nonprofit was a member of the three-party development team. The deal remains dead!

Fife lied about wanting to “defund the police.” Again in collusion with her friend Mayor Thao, she supported and supports the brutal police removal of homeless people from encampments, like the largest one in the City on Wood Street in her District, as elsewhere in the City; has signed off on the addition of Draconian drones to the OPD military arsenal—a gift, no less, of the scandalized Duongs—and supports the shameful Ceasefire program that targets suspected black and brown gang members for criminal charges through development of community snitches.
