Greatful that our neighboring LBPD PBA Local #10 Brother Geter Benitez is going home to his family.
SEVERAL OFFICERS INJURED IN WEEKEND ASSAULTS.
We are counting our blessings today after officers in Fort Lee, Engelwood, and Long Branch were assaulted this weekend. The most serious was Long Branch Police Officer Geter Benitez.
He was stabbed by a suspect during a violent domestic dispute. Officer Benitez arrived and ran to stop the attacker who was assaulting the woman.
As Officer Benitez struggled with the suspect, he was stabbed in the head. Bleeding heavily, Officer Benitez continued to struggle with the suspect. Several other officers and bystander help subdue the suspect.
Officer Benitez was rushed by fellow officers to Monmouth Medical Center where he was admitted overnight. We are happy to report that he has been released from the hospital today.
President Andreyev said, "Our members are facing danger everyday. This weekend's incidents just highlight the bravery of our members that most times goes unnoticed by most media. Please keep all the officers injured this weekend in your prayers."
