Finally getting around to editing photos from a backpacking trip with friends to Lady Lake in the Sierra National Forest.

It’s amazing how much the landscape changes along the trail, from shaded forests to exposed granite, rocky climbs, and these beautiful little alpine meadows with streams winding through the grass. One meadow in particular looked like something straight out of a fairy tale, with tiny creeks running in every direction, leading me to cry just out of beauty and gratitude. I feel extremely lucky to be able to experience these beautiful places.

Much of this landscape was shaped by glaciers thousands of years ago, and you can really see their influence in the granite formations and mountain basins along the way.

There was something wonderful about spending that time with friends, taking in the scenery, and having nowhere else we needed to be.

Still amazed by how much there is to discover in the Sierra!

A little time spent exploring Angel Falls near Bass Lake.

There's something special about returning to a place with the friends who first introduced you to this beautiful corner of the foothills.

Between the rushing water, granite rocks, and good company, it was a lovely reminder that some of the best days are the simplest ones.

Grateful for the people who help us discover new places and make them feel like home.

There are some places that carry a lot of history.

This weekend, we had the chance to tour the North Fork Community Power plant!

For generations, the Old Mill site was a place where people worked, families were built, and an entire community was connected through the lumber industry. So standing there today and seeing a new kind of industry taking shape in that same place feels pretty special.

What makes this project even more meaningful is that it has been years in the making. It’s the result of people in North Fork believing in an idea, sticking with it, and continuing to move it forward. The North Fork Community Development Council and so many people in our community have continued to believe in what this could mean for North Fork. The plant is designed to turn local forest biomass into renewable electricity and biochar while creating new opportunities right here in our community.

And there’s something really beautiful about seeing that connection between the past and the future.

The Old Mill helped build North Fork through timber and lumber. Now, on that same ground, we’re watching a new chapter in our community’s relationship with the forest take shape.

It’s local. It’s innovative. It’s community-driven.

And, for me, it brings a lot of joy to see industry coming back to North Fork in a way that feels connected to our history while looking toward what’s next.

Big things don’t always happen overnight. Sometimes they take years of people showing up, believing in something, and building it together.

It was an amazing thing to witness this weekend, and I’m so grateful to the North Fork Community Development Council for helping bring people together to see this next chapter firsthand.

Love is like a Butterfly
Had such a special family dinner last night, that I had completely forgot to take pictures so thank Mark Wallo for the little moments last night!

We honored Dolly Parton and talked about our dreams. It was beautiful and honestly so heartwarming to come together with our mountain family and eat a beautiful feast, listen to Dolly Parton music, and even had Hayden with Critter Creator 3D create these butterflies, which let’s just say we were all covered (or attacked) by butterflies 😉

Thank you for everyone who came and support Family Dinner.

Family Dinner is a monthly potluck, full of intention and love, where each person brings a homemade dish, and we eat on real plates and silverware, with tablecloths that my mom embroiders each month with little drawings and words people write, and I create a linocut invitation that is given to each person attending, all free, this dinner is where the community can come together, and connect. All the donations given go 100% back to Fresno Flats Historic Park & Village with anything needed in the Cunningham Schoolhouse or the kitchen!

What I love about Family Dinner is that we all just connect deep on the human level, and come together, and it is beautiful to see people of different ages, cultures, backgrounds, jobs to come together and share.
