It has been 6 days since our big announcement. Standing in front of all the people who have put "community" into the community center has been bittersweet. These people have shown me love, grace, and commitment over the last 6 years, but most of all, selflessness over the last 6 days. Change always comes with fears and unpredictability. Each and every person I stood in front of showered me with kind words and well wishes. They are not letting their fears of change cloud all the blessings that God has bestowed upon every person who walked through 33 South Main St.
Our Facebook community has been just as amazing. In a place where people can hide behind a screen and keyboard so easily, it has been nice to read all the kind words and feel the appreciation from our amazing community. I
I hope The GOOSE is a legacy in Oakfield just as The Dairy and The Yellow Goose were. I hope that stories are told down the road of how the building went from being 1st jobs, great milkshakes and donuts with grandpa on Saturdays to a place that fed people, and not just from our food pantry. Feeding new friendships at coffee hour and ailing bodies with yoga. The opportunity to feed souls with worship, whether at a Bible Study or a Church service. Feeding grieving hearts through Grief Share. Remembering and speaking to The GOOSE as God's On Our Side Everyday. The last 6 years have been a blessing everyday to me. I have seen God work within this building time and time again.
As my time at The GOOSE ends, I pray over the Ognibene family, the Oakfield and GOOSE communities, and I hope that you will also be praying over this too. I know God has great things in store.
God Bless,
Sue
