FOUND Jackie a Kidney

FOUND Jackie a Kidney Jackie Knutson is our mother. She is living with PKD in stage 5 renal failure, in need of a kidney. Our mother has Polycystic Kidney Disease.

PKD is a genetic disorder that has a 50% chance of being passed down to offspring. It causes cysts to grow on the kidneys. If the condition is severe, it affects the liver, pancreas, and sometimes even the heart and the brain. It affects about 12.5 Million people worldwide. The time has come for mom to get a transplant. After exhausting a list of eligible family members with no success, she was fo

rced to choose the deceased donor waiting list. We were told it could be 6 years as unfortunately Mom has a high antibody count at 80%. This means that she will reject 80% of the population. Mom can receive a kidney from someone who is blood type A or O. Update: Mom started dialysis in June 2014. Our quest for the perfect kidney goes on...

My brothers and I decided to reach out to a broader audience. This is where Facebook, and you come in. Help us spread the word in the hope that some caring individual will find it in their heart to donate a kidney to our mother. If you are interested in finding out more information about Kidney Donation, please call Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) in Minneapolis, Minnesota and speak to Eugenia Steffens, the Living Donor Transplant Coordinator at 612-873-7705, 888-345-0816 or email her at: [email protected]. Please mention it is for our mother, Jackie Knutson. The donor process is completely confidential. The only way my mother finds anything out is if the potential donor mentions something to her.
