Last Saturday night, VFW Post 2922 had the honor of both sponsoring and attending the Oakdale Ducks Unlimited Annual Conservation Banquet—and what a night it was.

Great people, great energy, and most importantly, a great cause. Thanks to the incredible support from everyone in attendance, significant funds were raised to support wetlands conservation and wildlife habitat restoration—work that truly matters.

Organizations like Ducks Unlimited don’t just protect land—they protect experiences. The kind passed down from one generation to the next. Early mornings in the blind, time outdoors with family, teaching patience, respect, and appreciation for the world around us.

For many veterans, that connection to nature is more than just recreation—it’s therapeutic. It’s a place to reset, to reflect, and to reconnect with family and community. Events like this help ensure those opportunities remain available, not just for us, but for future generations.

We’re proud to support a mission that aligns so closely with our values—service, stewardship, and community.

Thank you to Ducks Unlimited Oakdale Chapter for putting on a fantastic event. We’re already looking forward to next year.

Good evening from Oakdale VFW Post 2922.

We held our regular meeting tonight and were encouraged to see attendance continuing to grow. It’s always great to see familiar faces, welcome new members, and share ideas about how we can better serve veterans and our community.

Many people don’t always see what the VFW does behind the scenes — from supporting local veterans and their families, to participating in community events, youth programs, patriotic ceremonies, scholarships, funeral honors, and outreach throughout the year.

We’re proud to be part of Oakdale, and even more proud to work alongside so many volunteers who care about giving back.

If you’re a veteran and have ever thought about stopping in, you are always welcome. And to our community members — thank you for your continued support. It truly means a lot to us.

🇺🇸 Riverbank Christmas Parade – What a Great Evening 🇺🇸🎄

Oakdale VFW Post 2922 was honored to attend and support the Riverbank Christmas Parade alongside our friends at American Veterans First.

It was an incredible evening filled with families, kids, volunteers, and veterans coming together in the spirit of the season. We were especially proud to be part of the toy effort this year — seeing so many smiles and excited kids reminds us exactly why these events matter.

Riverbank hasn’t had an active VFW presence in many years, and being there to reconnect with the community and stand beside another outstanding veterans organization made the night even more meaningful.

Thank you to American Veterans First, the volunteers, and everyone who stopped by, said hello, or helped make the evening special. This is what community looks like.

🇺🇸 Community Announcement: Horse Soldier Bourbon Event Featuring Green Beret Tyler Garner 🇺🇸

For those in our community who may be interested, a special event is coming up featuring SSG (Ret.) Tyler Garner, U.S. Army Green Beret and national ambassador for Horse Soldier Bourbon.

Horse Soldier Bourbon has a remarkable origin story — forged by members of the elite Green Beret teams deployed on horseback in Afghanistan shortly after 9/11. Their mission later inspired the film 12 Strong. Today, that legacy continues through their award-winning bourbon and ongoing veteran leadership.

Tyler Garner will be appearing as a guest speaker to share the story behind Horse Soldier, his experience in Special Forces, and the journey that led from the battlefield to bourbon craftsmanship.

This is not a VFW-hosted or VFW-attended event — just something we wanted to share for anyone in the community who enjoys veteran-focused stories, American craftsmanship, or wants to learn more about the origins of Horse Soldier Bourbon.

🇺🇸 Turlock High School NJROTC Veterans Dinner, Raffle & Ball 🇺🇸

Oakdale VFW is honored to attend and support this wonderful event hosted by the Turlock High School NJROTC. The cadets put an incredible amount of work into this evening each year, and it’s always a meaningful way to recognize veterans while helping the next generation of leaders.

The night includes a social hour, raffle, dinner, ceremony, and dance — all in semi-formal or military attire. It’s a great way to show support for the NJROTC program and enjoy a memorable evening with the community.

🇺🇸 Oakdale VFW Supports Wreaths Across America 🇺🇸

This year, National Wreaths Across America Day will be held on Saturday, December 13th, 2025. Each December, volunteers across the nation place wreaths on the graves of our veterans to Remember their sacrifice, Honor their service, and Teach future generations about the cost of freedom.

More than two million volunteers participate at over 5,200 locations worldwide — and we’re proud to be part of that tradition.

The Oakdale VFW will be supporting the ceremony and wreath placement at:

We’re excited to share that Oakdale VFW will be joining American Veterans First at this year’s Riverbank Christmas Parade!

This event brings together Veterans First volunteers, VFW members, families, and friends for an evening of holiday spirit and community support. It’s been many years since Riverbank last had an active VFW chapter, and we’re honored to show up, reconnect with local veterans, and stand beside another great veterans organization.

🎁 Toy Giving:
We’re grateful for the opportunity to help with the toy effort this year to ensure there are plenty of gifts to go around for local kids. Supporting our community—especially families and children—means a lot to us, and we’re proud to contribute to the holiday cheer.

We’ll also have a small information table for anyone curious about the VFW or interested in connecting with fellow veterans. New faces are always welcome, and we’re here to answer questions, offer support, or simply share good conversation.

In Memory of Freddy Morales

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of our fellow comrade, Freddy Morales. Freddy was a dedicated and active member of our local Veterans community, serving in many roles—including Commander of the Ceres VFW and Junior Vice Commandant of the Modesto Marine Corps League.

He also served as an officer and active member of the Ceres American Legion, GI Forum, Veterans Advisory Commission, Fleet Reserve, and several other organizations. His commitment to supporting Veterans and strengthening our community was unwavering.

📅 Service Information:
The family has requested attendance from all organizations Freddy was involved in.
We hope VFW Post 2922 can be represented, especially on November 24th at Lakewood.

Let us honor his service, his dedication, and the brotherhood he shared with all of us.

Rest in peace, Freddy.
