The Oak Ridge Neighborhood Watch Program (ORNWP) is an effective crime prevention program that brings together the citizens of Oak Ridge and the Oak Ridge Police Department (ORPD) to deter and reduce crime as well as improve the quality of life in neighborhoods. Neighborhoods within the ORNWP haveregular meetings, social gatherings, neighborhood cleanups,and assist with larger scale Neighborhood W

atch events and fundraising activities. All funds for operating expenses and event-hosting comes from donations and fundraising activities. This is accomplished only with participation and assistance from many volunteers. While there is no way to measure the amount of crime that is prevented by the presence of the ORNWP, there has been several examples documented where ORNWP members have assisted the ORPD with arrests by reporting suspicious activity and persons to the police dispatch.
