American Legion Post 199 - Oak Ridge, TN The American Legion was founded based on four pillars of service to: Our Veterans, Our Youth, A Strong National Defense, and Americanism.

Atomic City Post #199 - the American Legion, Department of Tennessee was charter in Oak Ridge, Dec 8, 1945 - after the "secret city" became known as an existing place from the town's birth during the war years as a part of the Manhattan Project. Over the years the Post has regularly sponsored and annually supported the Boys' and Girls' State for Oak Ridge High School raising Seniors during the sum

mer of their Junior year. The Post has provided an Annual Scholarship to a graduating Oak Ridge High School Senior: Eagle Scout of Troop 328; and also to a son/daughter of a Veteran entering a Service Academy.
