GFNC Greyhound Adoptees Win Award
Helping Paws International, Therapy, Assistance, & Reading Literacy Dogs announces that four of its Triangle area greyhounds have been awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Award for their volunteer service hours to their community.
Established in 2003, this Award is given by the President of the United States and honors individuals, families and groups who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to volunteer service over the course of at least 12 months to a lifetime.
The winners are:
Jeani Gray & Isis Gray-Hound - Gold Level with 1915.25 Therapy, Assistance, B.A.R.K.S. Book Buddies Service Hours
Isis is the #1 greyhound therapy in the U.S.A. in service hours
Isis (Ilsalee Taylor) was adopted for GFNC in February 2002. Isis is Helping Paws President of the Fur-therapists and is Helping Paws lead therapy dog. She is know everywhere as "Santa Paws".
Jim Gray & Titan Gray-Hound - Gold Level with 1803.90 Therapy, Assistance, B.A.R.K.S. Book Buddies Service Hours
Titan is the #2 greyhound therapy in the U.S.A. in service hours
Titan was one of a group of 3 greyhound puppies received by GFNC in the spring of 2001. He was originally adopted by the Kirk Bruno family and named Cooper. At the age of 14 months he went to live with the Grays and become Helping Paws Vice-Pres of the fur-therapists. In addition to this Titan is also a hero dog who captured 3 thieves who were robbing stores along Creedmoor Road in Raleigh

In addition to being therapy dogs with Helping Paws International, Isis, Titan, Stan & Grace are/were retired racing greyhounds adopted from Greyhound Friends of NC. They are/were also greyhound ambassadors with the Triangle Greyhound Society.
The recipients will receive:
An official President’s Volunteer Service Award lapel/vest/bandana pin
Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Blue
A personalized certificate of achievement
A congratulatory letter from the President of the United States
These items have been received and will be award in an upcoming ceremony.
The four levels of the Award varying by hours of service completed. They are:
Bronze : 100 to 249 hours
Silver: 250 to 499 hours
Gold: : 500 hours or more

Individuals who have completed 4,000 or more volunteer service hours over the course of their lifetime
