East Tennessee Friends of Animals ETNFOA is an Adult and Senior CAT rescue in East TN. We are NOT an Animal Shelter. Sadly we cannot take animals from the public. Please help us make a difference!

We only take animals direct from shelters!!!! East Tennessee Friends of Animals is a group of caring dedicated volunteers who are working hard to rescue and place the animals that find their way into the public shelter system. The local animal shelters in East, Tennessee does not have the resources, financial backing, space or manpower, to house all the stray and surrendered animals on an indefini

te basis. Therefore, the clock starts ticking for these animals at the moment that they are deemed ready for adoption. Our primary mission is spay/neuter working at ground zero. For many years our mission was rescue only. After pulling hundreds from local shelters each year to try and lower euthanasia, we never saw any changes in intake. Therefore, we changed our primary mission to spay/neuter for community cats and kittens and trap-neuter-return (TNR) of feral cat colonies in order to reduce the number of animals being born which might eventually find their way into the shelter system. ETNFOA will continue to work hard in rescue to insure that as many animals as possible are rescued through either direct adoption, or placement into the foster care system before the clock stops ticking and their time is up.

We have had a good week! Tom was adopted. His replacement Birdie was adopted before we even had a chance to introduce her! We pulled Ellen from Monroe County and now Mimi from Oak Ridge to join our Petsense crew. We took a big batch of doggie ice cream up to ORAS and will be taking a buggy of food over to Brysonn's Closet pet food pantry today. Now on to the good part.....

Ellen is a super affectionate 1.5 year old girl. She's active and loves to be petted. Medium fur with a terrific personality, Ellen will make a fine new best friend. She was a young mom, but now it's her turn to be the baby.

Mimi is a roughly 2 year old tortie princess. She is a chonky lap cat looking for a sofa. She likes attention, and to be pet, but is not overly needy. She is super quiet, in fact we have yet to hear her make a peep even on the drive over.

Both cats are fully vetted; spayed, vaccinated, tested negative for FIV and Felv, and even microchipped. Both are available for adoption at our Lenoir City Petsense location. Applications can be filled out in store or email [email protected] for more information.

Today we dropped by the Blount County Animal Center and met a sweet cat that needs a little extra love and attention. Meet MacGyver, a 3 year old that loves his people. He's looking for a calm home with a regular routine. Sweet Macgyver got his butt handed to him by some feral cats, and the awesome ppl at this shelter have been rehabbing him with great success. He follows them around like a puppy dog when things are quiet, and he craves affection. Overall he's a terrific cat that got off to a traumatic start and is looking for his second chance. We spent another morning with Prince Pickle, this time at Bud's Coffee in Oak Ridge. This sweet goofball is still looking for an active home through the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter. He's got puppy energy in a adult dog body. Pickle loves squeaky toys and treats. He know sit, and is very smart. If you need a running partner or have an active family with a fenced yard and some tennis balls you will have a new best friend.

The Oak Ridge Animal Shelter is located at 395 Belgrade Rd directly behind the Tractor Supply Company. They are open Tuesday through Saturday Noon til 6pm. Pickle is fully vetted; fixed, vaccinated, tested negative for heartworm, and even microchipped.

We had a great time spending a few hours today with our favorite adoptable dog Prince Pickle from the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter. If you were ever looking for big backed toddler energy, this is your guy. He's around 2 years old, loves to go for a run, can bowl over a small child like a speed bump, and will wrestle a grizzly to get a milkbone. He takes his treats gently and know sit, and loves a good belly rub. He's smart, eager to please, and looking for an active family. Prince Pickle is currently located at the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter, 395 Belgrade Rd directly behind the Tractor Supply Company. He's fully vetted; fixed, vaccinated, tested negative for heartworm, and even microchipped. His adoption fee is only $55 with an approved application. The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday Noon til 6pm. Prince Pickle has been waiting a year for a good home so please share this far and wide to help us get more eyes on him.
