The Peace and Social Justice Committee is busy planning its third season of the popular "Our American Roots" programs. With a $10,000 District Rotary grant, and an additional grant of $4840 from the Tennessee Arts Council, the four programs will focus on our East Tennessee cultural heritage and diversity through music, dance and more. The TAC grant will help fund our first program, singer songwriter, Amythist Kiah. We are very excited to be able to bring this well known talent to Oak Ridge. Stay tuned for more exciting programs coming up in early 2025!

Who are these good looking men? Martin Grossbeck, Mike Morris, Wayne Houlberg and Fred Barry, and many others, transformed an old storage room at the Oak Ridge Boys and Girls Club into a Barber and Beauty Shop with the help of a matching grant from Distrct 6780 and generous donations from their Oak Ridge Breakfast Rotary Club members and the community . The project goal is to provide a place at the Boys and Girls Club where youth can learn how to care for different hair types, families can come in and learn how to do hair cuts and haircare at home, and haircare professionals will have a place to donate their time and talent to train youth and give experience for those interested in careers in cosmetology.

You can see from the pictures that the transformation was only the first of many future fantastic makeovers that will be coming out of this project for years to come. Who's next?! 💈💇💅
