FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 29, 2026 (Johnson City, TN)--ETSU professor, musician, and author Michael Amos Cody will be celebrating the release of his new novel, Avalon Moon, with a concert and party on the PATIO (1810 Triangle Rd., Johnson City) on Friday, May 22 starting at 7pm. The event is free to attend.

A sequel to Cody’s award-winning 2025 thriller, Streets of Nashville, Avalon Moon returns to Runion, NC where Cody set his previous novel Gabriel’s Songbook and story collection A Twilight Reel. Like Faulkner’s Yoknapatawpha County, Cody’s Runion contains characters and secrets that make it ideal for telling tight, human-focused stories. In this latest, the rural community is dealing with a growing list of corpses–always in pairs of male and female. To track the monster responsible, a group of locals must work together. Mark Powell (Lioness) calls Avalon Moon, “A beautifully written thriller that immerses readers in a world where the landscape is as compelling and enigmatic as the killer they seek.”

Michael Amos Cody was born in Sumter, South Carolina, and grew up in the village of Walnut, jewel of Madison County, North Carolina, near the ruins of Runion, a place he has reimagined for his fiction. Inspired by his own time in Nashville as well as a real murder on Music Row, Streets of Nashville won the 2026 Independent Press Award for Thrillers and was a finalist for the Best Thriller Book Award from BestThrillers.com. Cody lives with wife Leesa in Jonesborough, Tennessee, and teaches early American literature and creative writing in the Department of Literature and Language at East Tennessee State University.

The PATIO is a private backyard space where events are hosted by Sam Barnett. Attendees should feel free to bring food, beverages, and whatever they need to feel comfortable. Doors open at 7pm and music starts at 7:30pm. There is no cover charge, but donations for the band are welcomed. Cody and his band will play covers plus original songs inspired by Avalon Moon.
