Khyber Pass has been on my mind these past several days and finally managed to sneak a meal in. Garlic Naan, Butter Chicken and Saag Paneer hit a spot. Yummy, as always!

The craziness of the schedule did not permit a visit so had it delivered. The only thing missing was the company of Jawid and his team. Will rectify that soon.🤞

Dear Takeout 25 Family,

One of the things I’m most proud of is that Takeout 25 became Illinois’ first Green Dining Hub. It reflects our belief that supporting local restaurants and building a healthier, more sustainable future go hand in hand.

This work would not be possible without our incredible partners at the Illinois Green Business Program and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign’s Energy Resources Center.

Over the past two years, we’ve been working together on an E2-funded pilot program to test and evaluate PFAS-free foodware—helping restaurants reduce exposure to “forever chemicals” while making safer choices for their customers, employees, and the environment.

Several Chicagoland restaurants have participated in this pilot, and we’re excited to share the results at a community event next week at the local library.

This conversation is about more than packaging. It’s about our food, our health, and the choices we make every day as consumers and community members. It’s also an opportunity to learn about and support the local businesses that are taking extra steps to make healthier, more sustainable choices for all of us.

Whether you’re passionate about sustainability, curious about PFAS, or simply want to learn how small choices can make a big difference, I hope you’ll join us.

Come learn. Come ask questions. Come be part of the solution.

Together, we can build a healthier and more sustainable community—one meal at a time.

What’s blooming on Harrison has really expanded this year and is now indeed the biggest local street festival. It’s a blend of old and new. Happy Apple was sold out!, Tacos at Taco Mucho, soon to open in the Buzz space (Blackberry Market), Fitzgerald bar and Babygold BBQ, Sushi at Mora, 3 music venues including DJBounce House and more. Eating, drinking, people watching, listening to music, checking out art and chatting with friends in this beautiful weather.
