The fetal heart program at Advocate Children’s Hospital serves as a source of hope and reassurance for expectant parents facing the unexpected diagnosis of a fetal heart condition. Through advanced diagnostic technology, expert fetal cardiac imaging and a dedicated multidisciplinary team, we provide comprehensive, family-centered care— helping ensure that every child has the strongest possible start in life.

Our new fetal heart clinic, funded by a generous gift from the Busking family, represents a significant investment in the care of families throughout our region. By doubling our patient capacity, we can reduce wait times, improve access to specialized services and enhance the overall patient experience. The new clinic features two state-of-the-art fetal echocardiography suites, a private consultation room for families and a strategically located space designed to streamline care and improve convenience.

This important expansion was made possible through the extraordinary generosity of the Busking family. Their support will have a lasting impact on countless children and families, helping us continue to advance excellence in fetal cardiac care for years to come.

What an incredible day supporting heart health in our community! ❤️

Advocate Children’s Hospital was proud to celebrate alongside more than 200 runners and walkers at the Young Hearts for Life 5K Run/Walk – raising an incredible $55,000 in support of this life-saving program.

Through our partnership with Young Hearts for Life, part of Advocate Charitable Foundation, we’re helping bring free ECG screenings to young adults across our communities – an initiative led by pediatric cardiologist Dr. Frank Zimmerman and dedicated to preventing sudden cardiac death in young people.

A special shoutout to the outstanding YH4L Junior Board for their leadership, and to Benedictine University for hosting us on your beautiful campus.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, supported and made a difference. Together, we’re creating healthier futures for kids and families – we can’t wait for next year!

A sweet treat just in time for summer! 🍦🌞🍨

The team on 4 Hope at Advocate Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn recently started an ice cream cart as a treat for hematology and oncology patients. What initially started as cryotherapy for patients during chemo infusions will now be a recurring event for patients to look forward to.

Thank you to the 4 Hope team for your dedication to patient care!

Meet Martin 👋

This 10-year-old Advocate Children's Hospital patient was surprised with a special VIP experience as our honorary Chicago Cubs bat kid.

Martin’s journey with Advocate Children’s Hospital began when he was just 1 year old. After a head injury that didn’t heal as expected, his mother brought him to the emergency department, where he was diagnosed with hemophilia — a rare bleeding disorder that prevents blood from clotting properly. Martin initially required frequent hospital visits and home nursing care.

Today, Martin continues to manage his condition with close monitoring and ongoing care. While his diagnosis requires extra precautions, he remains a joyful and resilient young boy whose personality shines through in everything he does. Like many kids his age, Martin loves spending time with his siblings, laughing at funny videos and keeping those around him smiling.

His bright personality sparked smiles across the Friendly Confines this morning when Martin and his family enjoyed exclusive on-field access before watching the game. Martin also received a custom Cubs jersey and a baseball for players to sign, had the chance to meet and interact with some players and was featured on the video board during the game.

📸 Check out some of the highlights from his big day at Wrigley!

Take me out to the ball game! ⚾️

In honor of Cubs for a Cure, a multiday initiative supporting cancer research in partnership with Advocate Health Care, Advocate Children’s Hospital oncology patients and former Advocate All-Star Spring Training trip attendees, Bria and Emma, lead all of Wrigley Field in the seventh-inning stretch with former Chicago Cubs player Anthony Rizzo. 💙

Laura has been a dedicated volunteer at Advocate Children’s Hospital in Park Ridge for the past 19 years. She shares her volunteer journey and what it means to her.

“I retired from my career of owning a sporting goods store and suddenly I had a lot of time on my hands. My kids were in school, and my husband was still working. I love kids and thought volunteering in pediatrics would be a good fit for me. I started volunteering five days a week since I had the time and at the time this was needed. It was wonderful helping the kids and parents.

I brought unit-based toys and games and would stay in some rooms to play board games and card games with the kids. I began to support our animal assisted therapy program once a week, which was a great fit since I love dogs. It was wonderful seeing the kids’, parents’ and staff’s faces when we brought the dog around to visit. The program expanded the outpatient clinic, and I was approached to support the program in my schedule. When the volunteer program expanded to NICU, I was asked if I was interested. Of course, I said yes. I love holding babies, and that has become such a wonderful part of my week.

I am currently volunteering three days a week. This includes supporting animals in the clinic area once a week, providing volunteer services to patients in our NICU and supporting dog therapy on the pediatric floor on Thursdays.”

Thank you, Laura, for your dedication to our patients and families.
