Hey Everyone!

Just attempted to send this long message to you all through e-mail, but it may not have gotten through due to old e-mail addresses. So, here it is. Please pass it along to your parents/friends if you would. Thanks...

I hope you and your families are all in good spirits and good health. Time flies and it's hard to believe that four years have past since the first Oak Lawn student stepped foot into Beth-El Hospital. Since then a lot of great work has been done in Amachuma to make Judy's dream a reality over there. The hospital sits nearly 70% complete and construction is still moving forward. If you would like to keep track of the progress being made, simply follow Judy on Facebook by liking her page ("Beth-El Hospital").

Unfortunately, Judy's journey has not been an easy one. In just the past few months she has encountered several hardships that have put a tremendous strain on hospital finances. Just a few of the things she's had to deal with include:

1) Getting her purse stolen
2) Having the cost of raw materials skyrocket
3) Losing the hospitals primary doctor (which includes having to buy out his contract)
4) Having her only vehicle involved in a car crash

Of course, these issues become even more significant when you consider the state of the global economy and the decrease in donations to the Beth-El Foundation (nonprofit established to fund the hospital). In order to try to help the hospital out, I am going to be sending Judy a small personal donation and I thought some of you might want to join me in doing this. If you are interested, please prepare a check made payable to "Beth-El Foundation" and send it to me at the following address...

I will then collect all of the checks and mail them directly to the Treasurer of the Beth-El Foundation. She will transfer the funds into Judy's account and make her aware of the donation. Here is the information for the Rotary Club of OL thank you that takes place on Monday, 8/13 at 11:45am in Whitney's Restaurant (Oak Lawn Hilton). Only Powers, Dykema, Brito, and myself will attend. Everyone needs to be ready with their speaking parts. Brito is in charge of "What is Cross Countries", Powers is in charge of "The Bolivian Experience", and Dykema is in charge of running the slideshow presentation and presenting the plaque to the President with a formal thank-you. We all need to dress up nice and bring $15 for the lunch. I will reimburse each of you. The slideshow will run during lunch and we will present the plaque directly afterwards. The whole event should end by 1:00pm. If anyone has any questions, just give me a call.

As far as the other thank-you's go... Demski, Powers, and I will make them during the week of 8/20 in the evenings since many of you will be heading off to college before then. If you have any questions about this, just let me know.

Hey Guys! You may want to double-check that you have enough memory for all of the Bolivia pics and video. After downloading the footage from six of the ten members, we are already at 26.1 gigabytes of space. Awesome!!!
