WAGE RADIO 106.5 FM

WAGE RADIO 106.5 FM W.A.G.E. RADIO is a low power FM station located in the Historic Oak Hill School. Our purpose is to

For coal camp communities in southern West Virginia, the Southern Appalachian Labor School (SALS) have aided in rebuilding homes for low income families, teaching life skills to young adults wanting to better themselves, and taking the challenge of making a difference. With a new year, SALS is expanding it's outreach to the air waves to Fayette County. The second floor of the Historic Oak Hill Sch

ool has been renovated into a new radio station, under the call sign WAGE 106.5 FM. The mission of WAGE Radio is to continue the mission of SALS by educating our listeners to food pantry events, community outreach, faith based events, service during states of emergency, and more. We plan for 8 hour blocks of interviews with health organizations, community based organizations, labor groups, after school groups, and others in a NPR style program. Our main program, "Unheard Voices" will give those with no voice a chance to be heard. We wish to highlight local musical talent to expand their audience. With this fundraiser, SALS will purchase radio equipment, 2 simple computers for editing and arraigning the episodes, antennas to be set on the roof of the Historic Fayette County School, mixer boards for the main radio broadcast, and also be able to maintain the radio station such as upkeep, FCC fees, local recordings, and to be able to record episodes outside of the school.
