Memorial Day Parade Grafton W.V.
It was honor to participate in the parade today! We hoped you enjoyed honoring those who served. Where heroes rest, freedom lives is more than a theme. We hope we gave the message of that today with our float. The sacrifices that our men and women gave so we can live the life we want, doesn’t come easy. Thank you for your bravery and we will forever honor you. 🪖🎖️

I want to take a moment and thank Brenda, Helen Beaver and the boys for all their help today!! We truly appreciate you and loved being able to hang out some today!! 🩵💜🩵💜

Today during the parade we handed out #988 cards and little toy soldiers. If you or someone you know might be struggling with their mental health, just know someone is available to help. You are not alone and you are loved!!! 🩵💜

Official Announcement: A Message from Michelle Riser🚨

Subject: Stepping Back to Move Forward

To our incredible community, volunteers, and supporters,

It is with a heavy heart, yet a clear mind, that I am sharing my decision to resign as the Executive Director of Wheeling for Hope.
Founding this organization and working alongside all of you has been one of the most rewarding chapters of my life. However, life currently requires me to step back from this commitment to focus on personal priorities.
While my role is changing, my heart is not—I remain deeply passionate about mental health awareness and su***de prevention. These causes are just as vital to me today as they were on the day we started.
I want to assure you that this is not the end of Wheeling for Hope. Our mission is much bigger than any one person. We have a dedicated Board of Directors who are prepared to keep us going strong, ensuring that the work we’ve started continues to make a tangible impact in our community.

Thank you for your unwavering support, your hard work, and for believing in the vision of outdoor recreation in our beautiful mountain state as a catalyst to improve our mental health.
I am so proud of what we have built together, and I look forward to seeing the organization thrive in its next chapter.

With deep gratitude and hope,
Michelle Riser

Sometimes healing doesn’t start with “fixing”…
It starts with noticing.

There’s a simple tool I love using in trauma work called SIFT:

✨ S – Sensations (What’s happening in your body?)
✨ I – Images (What memories or pictures come up?)
✨ F – Feelings (What emotions are present?)
✨ T – Thoughts (What are you telling yourself?)

When we’ve lived through trauma, our nervous system often reacts before we even understand why.

SIFT helps slow that down.
It creates space between reaction and awareness.

And here’s the beautiful part…
🐎 Horses naturally guide us into this.

They don’t respond to our words—they respond to what’s happening inside of us.

So when you’re standing with a horse and your heart is racing…
When your thoughts are loud…
When emotions feel overwhelming…

That’s not failure.
That’s information.

💛 At A SET CHANCE, we help you gently learn to notice, not judge.
💙 To understand your inner world, not fight it.
🐎 Because healing begins when awareness meets safety.

🫂 Losing a loved one to su***de can feel lonesome, but there is power in seeking support and finding community with those who have shared experiences.

AFSP's Long-Term Survivors of Su***de Loss Summit is taking place July 16-19, 2026 in Baltimore. The Summit is a space for long-term su***de loss survivors to connect, learn, and find hope with one another.
