Shane Heminger of Erie Environmental - Mold Asbestos Radon presented Asbestos Awareness during yesterday's meeting, providing members with an overview of the history of asbestos, its common uses in building materials, and the health risks associated with exposure.

Attendees also learned about proper inspection and sampling techniques, along with the importance of never assuming that newer construction or previously renovated buildings are free of asbestos.

Members gathered for the final Safety Council meeting of the fiscal year today.

Guest speaker Tracy LeMaire of the National Safety Council presented on Transportation Safety, covering 2025 U.S. crash statistics, common contributing factors, risky driving behaviors, and the responsibility every driver has behind the wheel.

The meeting also served as the Safety Council's annual Safety Awards presentation. Twenty-two members received the Above & Beyond Award for attending all monthly meetings throughout the year. Keith Traver of LogistiQ was recognized as the Engagement Champion for his consistent meeting participation, and Valerie Winterfield of Habitat for Humanity of Ottawa County Ohio received the Social Butterfly Award for her outstanding networking with members.
