Executive Director - North Whidbey Help House Food Bank (Oak Harbor, WA.)
Position Summary
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership and day-to-day management of North Whidbey Help House. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director oversees staff, finances, operations, volunteers, compliance, and community partnerships while ensuring the organization's mission is carried out effectively and responsibly.
Essential Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations
• Supervise staff and administer personnel policies.
• Oversee daily operations and maintain organizational records.
• Learn all operational functions and assist with food distribution, reception, or other duties as needed.
• Plan and coordinate special events, including volunteer appreciation and community outreach activities.
Financial Management
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, maintain the general ledger, and prepare records for accounting services.
• Process donations, prepare weekly deposits, issue donor receipts and acknowledgment letters, and maintain internal financial controls.
• Monitor cash flow and work with the Board of Directors on financial planning.
• Oversee the North Whidbey Medical Help Fund and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Seek and apply for grants
Compliance & Administration
• Prepare and submit required annual filings with Washington State agencies.
• Maintain accurate organizational, financial, and administrative records.
• Oversee inventory of food, office supplies, and operational materials.
Community Engagement
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with volunteers, donors, local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies.
• Coordinate daily pickup of donated food from community partners.
• Oversee administration of Emergency Food Assistance Program (EFAP) funds and related reporting.
• Represent Help House at meetings and community events as requested.

• Experience in nonprofit, business, or organizational leadership.
• Experience supervising employees and working with volunteers.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping, budgeting, and financial management.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
