The Ottawa County Veterans Service Office has passed the project to an independent committee. The committee is pleased to announce that they are working to make Wreaths Across America, Ottawa County a four year project. The goal is to reach each cemetery over that four year period. For year one, we will be aiming to bring the wreaths to the veteran graves in all Marblehead and Elmore cemeteries in
December 2016. For year two, we will be aiming to bring the wreaths to the veteran graves in all Port Clinton area cemeteries in December 2017. For year three, we will be aiming to bring the wreaths to the veteran graves in all Oak Harbor area cemeteries in December 2018. Then finally for year four, we will be aiming to bring the wreaths to the veteran grave in all Genoa area cemeteries in December 2019. Expansion of the wreath placement to additional county locations may happen based upon funding received. The current Ottawa County Wreath Committee members Kayleen Daup, John Heminger, Nate Holman, Ann Mann, Mike Mann, Shelley Schutte, and Sara Toris. If you are interested in volunteering with the committee or would like to possibly join the committee, please contact one of the above members. The mission of Wreaths Across America is Remember, Honor, Teach. It is carried out in part by coordinating wreath laying ceremonies in December at cemeteries in all 50 states and beyond. The event is made possible by thousands of volunteers who organize local ceremonies, raise funds to sponsor wreaths, and participate in the events. We are currently fundraising to purchase the wreaths. The wreaths may be sponsored for $17.00 each. Will you help us say their names so they are not forgotten and place a Christmas wreath on the grave of an American hero? As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, all contributions made to Wreaths Across America are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowable. Donations of any monetary amount are appreciated and should be sent to the Ottawa County Wreath Committee c/o Sara Toris, made payable to Wreaths Across America. We are looking forward to another beautiful, yet somber day of remembrance. Thank you for your consideration, support, and we look forward to continuing the tradition of Wreaths Across America in here in Ottawa County, Ohio!
