2024 has many wonderful new additions to look forward to and we would like to start off with both a farewell to our Unit Director Nikki Barone and a huge WELCOME to our new Unit Director Stefanya Huerta!
Nikki has been apart of the Boys & Girls Club of Oak Harbor for over 17 years. She is very proud to have started her career at the BGC as a summer camp aid and extremely grateful for her time working with youth, staff, and community members - building strong relationships with those who care deeply about serving the youth of Oak Harbor. Nikki is moving out of state to pursue a new chapter in her career and we wish her great success!
Stefanya has served the youth of Oak Harbor, their families and the community for 20 years. She began her career Oak Harbor Boys and Girls Club, then took on different roles under the umbrella of her career such as Juvenile Court Family Services, Center Manager of a Bilingual ECEAP/Migrant Headstart Program, Youth Counselor for youth with intensive behaviors, Behavior Specialist, and Registered Behavior Technician (just to name a few). She is both a Navy kid and considers herself a local having been born on Whidbey, attending OHHS (class of 2001), and worked her first Youth Job at the Oak Harbor Boys & Girls Club before traveling overseas. She returned to Whidbey in 2012 claiming Whidbey to be her forever home. Stefanya serves on the Board of Directors of a couple of Youth organizations and is an active ambassador for the Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce.
