This morning at 8:45, I got Alyssa out of the car, and she immediately spotted a state trooper through the window at Dunkin'. The line was long, stretching all the way to the door, but Alyssa ran straight up to the officer at the front, hugged him, and excitedly exclaimed, "THE POLICE!" He smiled and said, "Hi sweetie!" and without hesitation, Alyssa added, "Thank you for protecting us!"
The officer, clearly touched, picked her up and bought her a doughnut. The whole store was smiling, and they kindly let me skip to the front of the line to capture this sweet moment. The officer told Alyssa that if she ever wanted a police car, she could come down to the station and ask for Danny, and he'd make sure she got one.
Sometimes, as parents, we doubt ourselves, but today I felt proud knowing that Ryder and I are raising our girls with respect from a young age. Moments like this remind me of the values we are instilling in them. So often, we hear negative stories about law enforcement, but it's important to remember that a few bad apples don't define the many brave men and women who risk their lives to protect us. This random act of kindness from a stranger filled my heart with gratitude.
I donโt know who this kind officer was, but thank you for brightening my day and making a lasting impression on my daughter. โค๐บ๐ธ
