Adoption pending
Rudy and Peanut are ready for adoption!
Meet Rudy & Peanut!
The tiniest bonded brothers with the biggest hearts… and a love story you can actually watch unfold every single day.
Rudy (6 yrs, 9 lb imperial Shih Tzu) and Peanut (5 yrs, 5 lb imperial Shih Tzu) are completely inseparable.
This isn’t just a “they like each other” situation — this is full-on soulmates. Where Rudy goes, Peanut follows. Where Peanut settles, Rudy is already curling up beside him. They nap cuddled together, wander the house side-by-side, and check in with each other constantly. If one disappears from view, the other will search the house until they’re reunited. They even soothe each other by gently licking faces and sucking on each other’s ears — it’s equal parts adorable and heart-melting.
These boys came from a backyard breeder/hoarding situation and were severely matted when they entered rescue. Since then, they’ve been shaved down, cleaned up, and have truly blossomed in foster care. You can tell they feel safe now — and their personalities are shining more each day.
Personality & Daily Life
They are the perfect balance of playful and chill. They enjoy walks, love toys (especially soft ones they can carry around), and then are more than happy to curl up next to you for a long nap. They’re not high-energy, but they do enjoy exploring and being part of whatever you’re doing.
Rudy
Rudy is pure love in dog form. He is deeply attached to his humans and wants to be wherever you are at all times; kitchen, bathroom, couch, you name it. He’s been described as a “stage 100 clinger,” a barnacle, your literal shadow. If you’re looking for a dog who will adore you endlessly and never leave your side, Rudy is your guy. He does have mild separation anxiety, he may cry for about 5–10 minutes when you leave, but he settles and relaxes afterward.
Peanut
Peanut is much more emotionally anchored to Rudy than to people. His comfort and confidence come from his brother, and he truly needs to be able to see Rudy at all times. While he isn’t as attention-seeking with humans, he absolutely enjoys cuddling up next to you (especially if Rudy is there too) and soaking up the warmth and comfort.
Training & Progress
• Both are now potty trained in their foster home
• Early photos with diapers were just during their adjustment period
• They’re learning routine and doing great
Ideal Home
Because of their tiny size and strong bond, they have a few important needs:
• A VERY secure yard — Peanut is so small he could slip through wrought iron or under gaps. Puppy pickets, garden fencing, or supervised leash potty breaks are great solutions
• A home with someone around most of the time, they (Rudy) thrives on companionship
• An adopter who is steady on their feet (they are little and always nearby!)
• A family committed to keeping them together, they cannot be separated
These boys have already been through so much, but you would never know it from how much love they have to give. They are gentle, affectionate, funny, and completely devoted — to each other and to their people.
If you’re ready for double the cuddles, double the loyalty, and a once-in-a-lifetime bond, Rudy & Peanut are waiting for you.
