Consider this: If you've had a child within the last decade, you might still be suffering some consequences—lethargy, memory disturbances, and poor energy levels, among other symptoms. And according to Dr. Oscar Serrallach, a family …

Here is a gem from ACOG's new legislative toolkit, which outlines how they should fight against CPMs and home birth. As consumers of midwifery care, we are outraged to see the words *mandatory* all over the document. THIS is why YOU must keep fighting for your rights. This is why YOU must make phone calls to legislators and come to the capitol. It isn't about midwives vs. doctors....it's much, much bigger than that. Please read this full pdf file and then take your anger to the Capitol.

Today is my third child's birth day, six years old! When I asked my family friend/midwife to attend his birth, midwifery had not yet been decriminalized. I remember that feeling well, of wanting what I knew to be the better route of care (for my family), to avoid the trauma I experienced with my first child, yet knowing I was asking my friend to do something no one should ever ask another person to do. She said yes, without hesitation, as many midwives may or may not have done in those days. They knew, as did the families, that midwifery care was worth breaking the out-of-date and unreasonable law. Because of this, FoMM and the midwives worked hard, year after year, to decriminalize midwives. Yes, midwives are legal in Missouri now. Yes, that was a major victory! However, the fight isn't over. Each year, new bills have been introduced and legislators have pushed to make midwifery harder to access, more expensive, or downright illegal again. The midwives who have served us so faithfully for years, sometimes under direct threat of jail or prosecution or both, are tired. Their jobs are to serve families, not lobby at the Captiol so they can do their work. It is up to us, the families, to stand up and say how important our midwives are to us. It is up to us to write, call, visit our legislators and make them listen. I am tired of fighting, as I know you are, but it is our duty. We need you now, more than ever. Please do your part and get involved. Be a part of the collective voice that says loudly "We " ~Summer~

"The ministry values the important work midwives do and the options of care they provide expecting parents. To continue to advance the midwifery profession, the agreement provides for the integration of midwives into primary maternity care planning committees and the development of jointly run committees with government and midwife representation."

Government has reached an agreement with B.C.'s registered midwives that will benefit mothers and their babies by improving access to midwifery services throughout the province, according to a press release."Through this agreement, we will continue our work with midwives to support this growing prof…

"Similarly, physicians should oppose laws that make midwifery difficult to practice, or even illegal, in a home birth setting.6 Since obstetricians as a political lobby are largely responsible for these punitive laws, we should work to have them overturned if we seek to renew the trust of our midwife colleagues." - See more at: http://www.obgyn.net/pregnancy-and-birth/whats-ethical-response-home-birth?cid=jointheconversation&GUID=6AB23BA5-9473-40A4-AD08-8249040E3F6B&XGUID=&rememberme=1&ts=11122014 .dFXufS2Z.dpuf
