Today, we honor Juneteenth.

Juneteenth is a day of remembrance, reflection, and recognition. It marks an important moment in our nation’s history and reminds us that freedom, equality, and justice must never be taken for granted.

At the Rockland YMCA, community is at the heart of everything we do. That means creating spaces where people of all backgrounds feel welcomed, respected, supported, and seen.

Today, we pause to honor the strength, resilience, and history of Black Americans, while continuing our commitment to inclusion, understanding, and belonging for all.

The kids at the Rockland County YMCA after school program at WHES had an “Adopt a Puppy” day.

The kids “adopted” a puppy, filled out an adoption certificate, took it to the “vet,” made a collar and decorated a house for their new fluffy friend.

In addition, the kids made 39 tug/pull toys for the dogs at Four Legs Good NY NJ animal shelter. They even made some to take home to their own dogs.

Pre-Memorial Weekend/Unofficial start of Summer treat, countdown to summer vacation craft, group play and more.

The treat was a “hot dog” (Tw***ie, Twix,frosting and green gummies) and “chips” (baked apple chips).

The kids made paper chains to help their countdown to summer vacation.
