This Friday, May 1, Violante's has made Pack 142 the beneficiary of their "Fundraiser Friday!" They have *three* delicious dinner options for $34.95, they all serve AT LEAST 3-4 people with generous portions, and the scouts get $2 from every dinner sold. The vodka sauce in their Drunken Meatballs and Drunken Parm is really good, but I think I'm gonna have to go for the fish and chips!
Call Violante's (973-944-2254) on Friday and place your order, and you can pick up between 3-6 PM. Couldn't get any easier - or more delicious! Thank you Violante's!! https://www.facebook.com/ViolantesMeatMarket https://www.violantes.com/

Next week, Cub Scouts from Packs 141 and 142, and Scouts from Troops 147 and 22, will be distributing bags to doorsteps around town in preparation for the 2026 Scouting For Food Drive. On Saturday the 18th (or possibly Thursday, Friday or Sunday), Nutley residents will receive a grocery bag with a flier describing the items most needed by the Nutley Family Service Bureau food pantry.
On the following Saturday, April 25, Scouts will return to their assigned streets to see if any bags of donations have been left for them.
The NFSB relies on these donations, now more than ever, as the number of families served by the food pantry continues to increase.
If you are a Nutley resident and do not receive a bag by Monday the 20th, and you wish to donate, please call 973-798-8802 (leave a message with your address) or email [email protected], and we'll have your neighborhood scout bring one by.

LOCAL FRIENDS: We are ISO your broken electronics for the Cub Scouts to take apart this coming week (see below):

Every year we have a meeting where the kids put on safety goggles, grab some screwdrivers, and find out what's inside all these gadgets! We're looking for the following items:
o Landline phones
o Computers
o Cassette decks/radios/cd players
o Alarm clocks
o Speakers
o Coffeemakers
o VCR or DVD players
o Keyboards
o Video game systems
o Toasters
o Fans
o Remote controls
o RC Cars or other toys
o Hair dryers
o Headphones
o Cameras

There are a few items we CANNOT accept for safety reasons: any TVs, microwaves, smoke detectors, vacuums, mercury thermometers or cell phones.

All items will be bundled and brought to the recycling center after the event. If you have any old beat up Rubbermaid bins you can part with, we would gladly take those too, to transport the leftover stuff.

Please let me know if you have something we can use, and we'll arrange pickup in the next few days. We are also having meetings at Holy Trinity Church on Hillside and Vreeland, this Sunday between 2-4 pm. Items can be left inside the side door.

THANK YOU from Cub Scout Pack 142!!!

This Thursday evening we'll be taking a "twilight hike" from the Mudhole playground (Memorial Park at the corner of Vreeland and Passaic). Our route will take us up to the Kingsland waterfall and back.

Friends and neighbors, I'm writing on behalf of our fifth grade Arrow of Light den. They're doing a community service project this month, assembling items for care packages for soldiers. We're working with the Adopt-A-Soldier Platoon (https://aasp.vet/our-story/) a NJ organization that has been sending packages to active duty soldiers for over 20 years.

Last year, one of the dads in that den was deployed and (coincidentally) received a package sent by Nutley middle schoolers. We were inspired to pay that forward and brighten someone else's day.

If you would like to help these Scouts towards their goal, we have a list of items that we're collecting. You can leave donations in the covered box on the porch of 38 Weston Street, until Thursday December 5. You can also visit our Amazon wish list page and have items sent directly to us. https://amzn.to/3AAEHAw - and the QR code will take you there as well.

We appreciate any help you can give in making these boxes really special for our American heroes.

Wish list: (Individually packaged items are best since boxes are usually shared)
Beef Jerky * Peanut Butter * Tuna Pouches * Granola Bars * Protein Bars * Mixed Nuts * Ramen Noodles * Hot Sauce * Ground Coffee * Individual Wrapped Packets of Twizzlers, Lifesavers, Gold Fish or Ritz Crackers or similar * Decks of cards/Card Games * Adult Coloring Books and Markers * Puzzle Books
