Happy World Autism Day from Building Connections Social Group!

In our group, we celebrate autism every single day! Our weekly meetups are filled with laughter, creativity, connection, and of course... LEGOs! ๐Ÿงฑโœจ

Autism isnโ€™t just something we supportโ€”itโ€™s something we celebrate. Here are just a few reasons why having autism is totally awesome:

๐Ÿ’ก Creative Thinking โ€“ Our builders see the world in brilliant, outside-the-box ways.
๐ŸŽฏ Laser Focus โ€“ When they're into something, they're all in, and itโ€™s amazing to watch!
๐Ÿ’ฌ Unique Voices โ€“ Every kid brings their own perspective, and we wouldnโ€™t want it any other way- verbal or nonverbal!
๐ŸŽ‰ Honesty & Authenticity โ€“ No masks, just real talk and real fun.
๐Ÿ’™ Passion Power โ€“ Whether itโ€™s trains, space, animals, or LEGOs, their passions light up the room.

Neurodivergent kids make the world brighter, kinder, and more interesting. Weโ€™re lucky to know and play with each and every one of them.

Keep being awesome, friends. Autism is not just accepted hereโ€”it's celebrated. ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿง โœจ

Commissioner Tucci Invites Residents
to Celebrate Autism Awareness

Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci is once again inviting residents to join Autism Speaks in celebrating World Autism Awareness Day on April 2 and Light It Up Blue to help shine a light on autism. Whether it's your front porch or your local business, an office party or a banquet, the whole world is going blue to increase awareness about autism.

Autism Speaks is the world's leading autism science and advocacy organization. It was founded in February 2005 by Suzanne and Bob Wright, the grandparents of a child with autism. Since its inception, Autism Speaks has made enormous strides, committing millions to research and developing innovative resources for families. The organization is dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism, increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families.

Light It Up Blue is a unique global initiative to help raise awareness about the growing public health concern that is autism. Iconic landmarks around the world will โ€œLight It Up Blueโ€ to show their support. โ€œI am confident that Nutley residents will embrace this cause and support the advocacy efforts to solve the autism puzzle,โ€ stated Commissioner Tucci.

Join us now and help shine a light on autism. Commissioner Tucci has purchased 100 blue bulbs to distribute free to residents on a first come basis. Bulbs will be available at the Department of Parks and Recreation located at 44 Park Ave, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. โ€“ 4:00 p.m. Bulbs may also be purchased at local stores.

If you need further information please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 973-284-4966.
