It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of one of our members. Dorne has been a member of the Sportsmans association for many many years, his dedication to our organization, love of the outdoors, and friendship will be deeply missed. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. His presence will be greatly missed, and his memory will remain a part of our club for years to come.

Dorne L. White, age 78 of Harveys Lake, passed away Sunday, June 7th, 2026 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Dorne was born in the Harveys Lake area on August 13th, 1947- the son of the late, Charles and Clara Crispell White.

Dorne graduated from Lake-Lehman School District, Class of 1965 where he was active for 13 years in the marching band, also involved in a band during high school called “The Ravens”. Dorne participated in wrestling, baseball and student council. After high school, he began working at Whitesel Brothers, then later at General Cigar as a Machinist, before transferring to Proctor & Gamble where he worked as a technician in Wastewater Treatment for 28 years. Following, he was employed with Lake-Lehman SD as a custodian where he retired from employment. He was a patron of the Alderson United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. Being an active conservationist throughout his life, Dorne was also a member of multiple organizations including the NRA, Wyoming Co. Conservation District, Quality Deer Management Association, Noxen-Monroe Sportsman’s Club, South Mountain Land Association, Bowman’s Creek Watershed, National Wild Turkey Federation, Ducks Unlimited, Whitetails Unlimited, and the North Branch Land Trust. He was an avid dart player, bowler, and softball player. Dorne enjoyed coaching his daughters' softball teams and later attending his grandchildren's and great grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. He was an avid outdoorsman, passionate about hunting and fishing. Dorne also enjoyed playing guitar, gardening, bird watching and the opportunity to share stories, jokes and make memories.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 5 brothers- Charles, Donald, David, Ted, and Darl White; 2 sisters, Viola Scott and Faye Hess; granddaughter, Kelsey Carpenter, grandson, Randy Zacharias, and son-in-law, Gary Carpenter.

Dorne is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Caren White; daughters, Kimberly Carpenter, Brandi White, Dorene White, Caren Ann Thompson and Diana White; grandchildren; Kami Carpenter (Daniel Oakes), Amanda Holcomb (Corbin Holcomb), Keegan Thomas (Luke Thomas), Callie Rollason (Sean Rollason), McAndrew Fogarty, Cassie Thompson (Edwin Cordero), Lily White (Joey Fioravanti), Jocelyn Fogarty, Kaitlyn Fogarty; & great-grandchildren, Addison Butler, Virginia Butler, Carson Holcomb, Sawyer Thomas, Brianna Rollason, Sophia Rollason, Vivian Rollason, Arlo Cordero, Valentino Fioravanti, and 2 on the way. Surviving also includes numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Services to be held Thursday, June 11th, 2026 at 6:00 PM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of Routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek with Pastor Bill Bachman of the Alderson UMC, officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM prior to the service.

A Celebration of the Life of Dorne to be held and announced at a later date.

•Kids Trout Derby 2026•

We had such a beautiful day yesterday! 55 kids registered, and 20 fish caught! The biggest fish was 14inches. We want to thank everyone for showing up and keeping the derby going and supporting us! Thank you to Stanley Cooper trout unlimited for the critter station, and the ice cream truck 1961 for the delicious treats! We would also like to thank all the local business for their donations and everyone that donated a basket for the raffle! And as always a huge thank you to all the volunteers to make this day run like it does! We really hope to see everyone back next year!!

Our kids trout derby is just a week away! Don’t forget to join us Sunday June 7th! Entry is FREE and includes a meal for all the kids participating!! Additional refreshments are available for purchase for the adults! It is a fun filled day and a day just for the kids!! Registrations is at Noon and lines in the water at 1! We hope to see everyone there!!
