A group of young people & adults are coming to Novinger from Richmond, Virginia. They are called "Toolbox Ministries" from Gayton Baptist Church. They were touched by our story of floods, tornado and snow storms over the last three years. Approximately 100 volunteers 75 youth/25 adults are coming the third week of July to "minister" to our town by helping fix up peoples homes and aiding with buil
ding an outdoor basketball court on our school property. This is an incredible opportunity to change the face and direction of our town. The basketball court will be on school property north of the bus garage on the west side of Hwy 149. It actually will be close to where the Novinger Wildcats once played outdoor basketball during the school season back in the "Old Days"! This site can once again become a source of pride to our town & school system. This project is being funded through private donations. To date, we have received 2,700 dollars from Toolbox Ministries, 2,000 from MFA Foundation and another donation of 2,000 dollars from a private individual. Recently a 3 on 3 basketball tournament raised about 350 dollars on Memorial Day week-end. We have a total of just less than 7,100 dollars, that's awesome. Here's the problem. To build the court we would like to provide for our children and young at heart, we need to raise another 4,000 dollars in 3 weeks! This is for concrete, steel, gravel and materials. Everything else has been donated including machinery to prepare the site ! Will you please help ? Many last minute fundraisers are being planned but your donations is what will put us over the top. One thing is for sure we are building a basketball court in July 2011 with whatever funds we have. We want to build the court that will best suit our community, 60' by 90,' with, at some time a total of 6 goals, but 2 to start. A parking area is being planned, the court will be fenced for safety with an open walk in gate. Lighting will be provided for security and the court will be along Hwy 149 in a safe open location for our children! This will be a new landmark in our community.
